Question:
I noticed R&I on my estimate…what does that mean?
Answer:
R&I is an abbreviation for Remove and Re-install.  Usually, there are undamaged items on your vehicle that we need to “remove” in order to replace/repair the damaged area.  Once that is completed, we “re-install” your original parts to bring your vehicle back to it’s pre-accident condition!

Welcome to “Collex Connection”
Our way of keeping in touch with our customers and providing automotive insight on a quarterly basis.

Feedback…analysis…plan…execute!  And then start all over again.  With the Giants in the playoffs, it sounds like sports.  Yet, I refer to our team at Collex recently relearning the value and benefit of staying focused and pulling together as a team.
Like most of us, whether it is at work, family or self – there are many people, commitments or organizations we have to try to please simultaneously…and it can be hard!  In the last few months, we had a business challenge and the team collectively analyzed the situation, developed a game plan and then executed really, really well!
So for my 8 year old daughter, myself or whoever cares to listen, let’s go out there and focus and remember some basics: feedback, analysis, plan and execute.  (Update on the playoffs:  The Giants are going to the Super Bowl!!!!)

What’s New At Collex
The Solar Panels are fully installed and ready to start helping us conserve some energy!  We expect for the 192 modules to produce about 1/3 of annual consumption!
To continue to be the best in the area and perform state-of-the-art repairs, we recently purchased our second resistance spot welder – a Wielander and Schill Invertaspot GT.  Fancy!  Fully automated, it determines the type, thickness and strength of the steels we are welding and performs a beautiful factory-like weld.  the guys love it!

Building a Better Team
Welcome back Vinnie and Ancil!  They just returned from a two day class at Metropolitan Car-O-Liner on ‘Computerized Electronic Measuring System / Collision Damage Analysis and Repair’.  They join our two Pauls with having had extensive on-site and classroom training on our state-of-the-art frame straightening and measuring system!
Starting last month and into February we’ve made investments in training and safety and are proud of ourI-Car Gold status.  Several technicians, estimators and managers have already or will be taking various I-Car sponsored classes on “Hazardous Materials, Personal Safety and Refinish Safety”, “Steel Unitized Structures Technologies and Repair”, Automotive Foams”, Structural Straightening Steel” and “Recycled Parts for Collision Repair”.

Technology Tidbits
At Collex, we are always looking into ways that technology can help us improve.  We found a few really cool and innovative new technological advances that are coming soon.
Cars that talk??  Believe it not, it is being tested by the DOT and University of Michigan.  Early studies show that this technology can help prevent accidents and improve the flow of traffic.  Click here to learn more.

A self healing I-Phone Case??  Using some really cool automotive paint that can “heal” itself, it’s a possibility!Check out this article on what’s to come!
